Located in the northwest suburbs of Phoenix, Surprise, Arizona is a destination of its own. You’ll love having access to the Agua Fria River, several regional parks, and nearby golf resorts.

The can’t miss spots in Surprise, AZ
When the city was just one square mile of farmland, Flora Mae Statler had a vision. She saw the potential of her modest spread, even if her daughter didn’t. Elizabeth Stoft gave the town its name back in 1938.
According to legend, she told her mother she’d be surprised if it amounted to anything. And thus, Surprise, Arizona, was born!
If you like baseball, give the Surprise Stadium a visit
As Phoenix grew, more people moved north to Surprise. Because of nearly perfect weather, the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals use it as a spring training ground. Within view of the White Tank Mountains, the stadium and other amenities popped up.
Surprise Stadium seats over 10,000 baseball fans. The complex has eight MLB practice fields, restaurants, and locker rooms. In the off-season, lacrosse games, festivals, weddings, and many other activities exist.
Check out Justice Brothers Ranch to pick fresh fruit
Justice Brothers Ranch runs a U-pick citrus grove when the weather isn't too hot. Five generations of the Justice family live on the ranch wrangling cattle and tending fruit. You’ll find around 75 varieties in the trees!
Open from December to April each year; it’s one of the favorite spots for locals and visitors alike. When their farm stand is open, you can get seasonal produce and meat from their cattle.
Give the Surprise Aquatic Center a visit
Fun for the whole family waits at the Surprise Aquatic Center! Featuring everything from a kiddie pool with water play toys to a vortex whirlpool, you can stay all day. Several water slides make the center perfect for older kids too.
Uptown Alley has a variety of activities
After a day at the pool or the ballpark, nothing beats bowling. Wander into Uptown Alley for 40 lanes of fun. You can enjoy a casual experience or ramp it up with blacklights and HDTVs.
If bowling isn’t your thing, they also offer an arcade with over 60 games and a virtual reality arena. In the VR area, games like Mario Kart, King Kong, and others come to life as you’ve never experienced them before.
For fresh produce, go to the Pitchfork Farmer’s Market
Local farmer’s markets are the best place to get freshly picked produce. Pitchfork Farmer’s Market features local vendors and homegrown fruits and veggies. Get a taste of Surprise straight from the people who know it best.
The Tennis and Racquet Complex is a must for any tennis fan
A United States Tennis Association Outstanding Facility, the Tennis and Racquet Complex in Surprise is packed. You’ll want to reserve a time slot in advance to ensure you’ve got space to play. It features 25 courts and a 2,500-seat competition arena.
Of course, no racquet sports facility is complete without pickleball and racquetball. Both sports are available at the complex. Call ahead for information.
Granite Falls Golf Club is great for golfers
One of the biggest draws to Surprise, AZ, is golf. Part of The Grand housing development, Granite Falls Golf Club is just one of four top-notch courses in the area. You’ve got Granite Falls North and South to choose from and 36 holes to play.
Known for challenging play, this club will keep any golfer happily occupied for days.
Player 1 Arcade is great for beers and games
Ready for a dose of nostalgia? Head over to Player 1 Arcade for hours of fun. More than your average game room, they also have a full bar. Home to one of the best craft beer selections in town, you’ll have fun sampling your new favorite brew.
After 7 pm, it’s 21 and up only, so you can enjoy your pinball without the rugrats!
